Firefighters will have a refresher class at the Fire Training Center before going to the WPCA facilities and simulating rescues in a 20-foot deep vault.
“The safety of my men is my number one concern,” said Fire Chief Richard Felner.
“This kind of training has proven its worth time and time again in protecting them while making dangerous rescues,” he said.
The training is an annual requirement from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as the fire department is the designated confined space rescue responder for the town, Felner said.
