On Monday, a DPW employee reported that two batteries, valued at $240 each, had been taken from the garage overnight, police said. Shortly after the theft was reported, employees told police that after calling several junk yards and scrap businesses they had been able to find the stolen batteries, police said.
Employees from DPW called again Tuesday to report several more batteries were missing and that several of the trucks had been vandalized overnight, police said.
Seven batteries, with a total value of $920, were stolen from vehicles parked in the outside lot, employees said Wednesday morning. A $500 set of Makita tools was also taken from a truck, police said.
Police are working with the DPW in locating the batteries and identifying suspects in the thefts.
