The case began shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday when a CVS employee reported to the store manager that a man had walked out of the store with a red plastic bag and run across the parking lot, police said. The manager contacted police and reported the theft of an unknown amount of shampoo, police said.
On a surveillance video from the store, the suspect was seen going to the shampoo aisle empty-handed and walking out with a full red plastic bag, police said. He then walked out of the store, the fled across the parking lot, police said.
A short time later, the same employee contacted police to say that the suspect was on the bus with the employee, police said. Officers stopped the bus and took custody of the suspect before calling the CVS manager to come and identify the man, police said.
When the manager arrived, he positively identified the suspect but told the officers that CVS had decided not to press charges against the suspect, police said.
Police then released the suspect and allowed the bus to leave.
