Employees told two officers called to the Cumberland Farms shortly after midnight that two men just leaving the store had tried to use bad credit cards, police said.
The officers saw the men get into a Dodge with Maine plates and questioned them and four others in the car, police said.
The men said they were driving to pick up some women, but officers found some had various credit cards and a scanning device for encoding magnetic strips, police said.
Three were arrested.
Elija Phillips, 19, of Putnam Avenue, Brooklyn, was charged with credit card fraud, third-degree forgery, third-degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit credit card fraud, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny and use of a scanning device, police said.
Shemar Joachim, 18, of 130th Street, Jamaica, Queens, was charged with illegal use of a credit card, third-degree identity theft, third-degree forgery and conspiracy, police said.
Phillips and Joachim were in the Cumberland Farms store, police said.
The car’s driver, Jeffrey Robinson, 18, of W. 115th St., New York, was charged with third-degree identity theft, third-degree forgery and conspiracy, police said.
Each man was held on $5,000 bond and was expected to appear in court on April 19.
