First responders were dispatched to a stretch of the parkway near exit 44 in Westport at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, where there was a report of a multi-vehicle crash with one of the vehicles landing on its side.
According to Westport fire officials, the driver of the rolled over vehicle was able to crawl out of a sunroof and no injuries were reported. The crash led to a closure of the Merritt Parkway for approximately two hours.
Officials said that tow trucks were called to the scene, which was cleared at approximately 9:52 p.m. The crash also led to delays on the northbound lanes as the crash was investigated and cleared.
