Driver Drifting On Fairfield Road Charged With Cocaine Possession

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - During a routine traffic stop Tuesday morning, a Fairfield officer found cocaine and two pipes used to smoke it in the stopped car, police said. 

Garret Denniston, 35, of Fairfield, was taken to headquarters and charged with possession of a narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $1,000 bond and given a court date of Nov. 29.

According to the police report, the car drifting in and out of the bicycle lane on Stratfield Road. A check of records with the Department of Motor Vehicles revealed an active attempt to locate the car, police said. 

After stopping the car, the officer noticed a plastic sandwich bag with a knot and a pulled apart copper scouring pad in plain view on the passenger seat, police said. 

The driver, Garrett Denniston, 35, of Fairfield, had difficulty finding his insurance and license and was ordered out of the car, the police report said. A search of the car revealed several more plastic bags in the center consul, some containing a white rock-like substance later tested positive for cocaine, as well as two metal pipes used for smoking, police said. 

Denniston was taken to headquarters and charged with possession of a narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $1,000 bond and given a court date of Nov. 29.
