The woman, 56, who was returning from a party in Westport around 10:45 p.m., was conscious and talking to officers at the scene. She was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for evaluation because of the severity of the crash, police said.

The woman was driving on Sturges Highway and attempted to turn left on Cross Highway, but ended up hitting the wall across the street, police said.

The crash damaged about 20 feet of the wall and two mailboxes. All of the car’s windows were smashed, police said.

The incident is under investigation.
