Steven Hyatt, 31, of Vanguard Street, was working in a Shoreham Village Drive backyard around 1:30 p.m. when the dog jumped out his car window and attacked a neighbor’s cat, breaking its neck, police said.
Fairfield Animal Control officers rushed the cat to the emergency veterinary clinic in Norwalk, where it was euthanized, police said.
Hyatt was issued an infraction for allowing a dog to roam, nuisance animal, failure to license a dog and failure to get a rabies vaccine, police said. He faces fines in the matter.
