Car Slams Into Utility Pole, Knocks Down Power Lines In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — It was a busy overnight for the Fairfield Fire Department as crews responded early Saturday to multiple motor vehicle accidents, according to a Facebook post.

In a crash on Burroughs Road in Fairfield, a car slammed into a utility pole and rolled, knocking down electrified power lines and damaging the pole, the fire department said. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

In a second accident during the early morning heavy rain, a car went down an embankment and hit a tree on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway in Westport.

Fairfield Fire responded to help at that incident between Exits 44 and 42.

The Westport Fire Department extricated one passenger from the car, and the two occupants were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
