Jose Natal, 60, of Monroe Street, was arrested on a warrant in Bridgeport and transported to Fairfield in connection with the Nov. 4 incident, police said.

Police said Natal was in the left lane traveling west on the Post Road around 10:42 p.m., when he crossed the double yellow line and crashed into an eastbound car near Shoreham Village Drive.

Officers at the scene thought he may have had a medical emergency and he told them he had just used heroin, police said.

Natal was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane, police said. He was released on a promise to appear in court on May 2.
