Tyshon Walker, 30, of Wayne Street, was charged with criminal attempt at third-degree larceny and second-degree forgery, police said. He was arrested on a warrant and released on a promise to appear in court March 8.

Police said a Fairfield couple reported a checkbook was stolen from their car last year.

Walker was caught on surveillance video on Dec. 4 at the People’s Bank ATM on North Main Street, Bridgeport, depositing one of the stolen checks made out for $2,900 to Shaon Harrigan, 42, of Hancock Avenue, Bridgeport.

The account he used was closed a few days later and the funds were moved to a new account, police said.

Walker has eight prior arrests for larceny, identity theft, forgeries and other charges, police said.

Bridgeport police are currently investigating a check-cashing ring and more arrests are possible.
