Bridgeport Man Arrested In Condom Theft In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport man with a lengthy criminal record was arrested Monday after police say he stole nearly $300 in condoms and health and beauty items from the Villa Avenue Stop & Shop.

Police said Hernan Carlos Aponte, 28, of Dewey Street, shoved the items, valued at $295, into a blue tote bag and passed the registers without paying for the merchandise shortly before 11 a.m.

Aponte, who police said has a history of crime, was released on $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 9.
