Marine units from the Fairfield and Westport police departments assisted the boater in the water of Long Island Sound near Penfield Reef Lighthouse.
When officers arrived, the man was back onboard his boat and had a large cut to his arm, police said.
The Fairfield Marine Unit transported the man to shore, while the Westport Marine Unit took the vessel and two other passengers to shore.
The man was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which were not life threatening, the Connecticut Post said.
The man was fishing with two others when the boat developed a steering problem and was traveling in circles, the Post said.
