4 People Injured In Serious Two-Car Crash In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Four people, including one who had to be cut out of a car, were taken to area hospitals after a serious two-car crash on Sunday evening near 1296 Kings Highway Cutoff in Fairfield, firefighters said.

The accident was reported at 6:14 p.m. Sunday. Fairfield firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and reported a serious multi-vehicle accident, with the single occupant of one vehicle heavily entrapped, and the occupants of the second vehicle requiring immediate medical care, firefighters said. 

Firefighters worked to extricate the driver using multiple hydraulic rescue tools. It took 14 emergency response personnel to extricate the driver. 

American Medical Response arrived shortly after the fire department with one ambulance and requested two more ambulances. 

A total of four victims were removed from the vehicles and turned over to AMR for transport to area hospitals. The Southport Fire Department was requested to the scene to assist with lights for the police investigation. Fairfield Police remained on the scene to complete their investigation. 

Fairfield Fire Department Engine 1, Ladder 1, Engine 2 and Ladder 2, responded along with Car 1, Car 2 and Car 3. Assistant Fire Chief Schuyler Sherwood took command of the scene.
