Champagne was born in Bridgeport to Joseph and Veronica Malasics, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for many years in the Planning and Zoning department for the Town of Fairfield.
Champagne is survived by her sons, Jeffrey of Chebeague Island, Maine, Gregory of Fairfield and Christopher (Sandra) of Springfield, Va.; two grandchildren; sisters, Sr. MaryAnn Malasics of East Haven and Anne Krattenmaker of Fairfield; and her brother, Edward Malasics of Fairfield. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert Champagne, Jr.; and her brothers, Joseph, Stephen, John and Louis.
Calling hours are Sunday, May 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
