Roy Barrett, 90, Fairfield WWII Veteran

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Roy Barrett of Fairfield died Jan. 7 at his home. He was 90.

He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Bridgeport to John and Ruth Barrett. He served in the Army during World War II in France and Germany with Company C of the 121 Infantry Regiment.

He earned Marksman Rifle, First Class Gunner and Combat Infantryman badges and was awarded a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Silver Cross and three Bronze Stars.

Before his retirement, Barrett worked at Dictaphone Corporation in Bridgeport for many years and at Dupont and Fairprene in Fairfield. He was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Notre Dame's Fighting Irish.

Barrett is survived by his wife of 65 years, Felsa Piccioli Barrett; three children, Jill Maureen (Lee Ganim) Ross, of Trumbull, Jack Curtis (Mary) Barrett, of Trumbull, and Jeri Dominic (MaryAnn) Barrett, of Easton; two sisters, Josephine Barrett and Ada Barrett DeSantie, both of Fairfield; a brother, Richard (Virginia) Barrett, of Fairfield; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John Barrett.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Larson Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Assumption Church in Fairfield. Burial with full military honors will be held at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
