Schmidt was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Bridgeport, daughter of Matthew and Dora (Miranti) Lyman. She worked at the University of Bridgeport for 25 years. She was a graduate of Central High, class of 1942.
Schmidt is survived by her children, David Schmidt, Jr., of Milford, Thomas Schmidt of Baltimore, Md., and Nancy Lockwood (Steven) of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, David Schmidt, Sr.; and sister, Jean Lyman.
Funeral services are private. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield.
