Robert Sherry, 84, Retired Groundskeeper, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Robert T. Sherry, a longtime Fairfield resident, died Jan. 15 after a two-month illness. He was 84

Sherry was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Fairfield. He retired as a groundskeeper from Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. He spent many years on the boat, fishing, clamming and lobstering with his wife, son, stepdaughter and grandson. He also enjoyed hunting in the winter months.

Sherry is survived by a son, Thomas Sherry; a stepdaughter, Betty Jane (Steve) Ayotte; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He also is survived by three sisters, Norma (Jack), Nancy and Betty (Joe); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Church in Bridgeport. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield.
