SARASOTA, Fla. - Raymond H. Ives, Jr., of Sarasota and formerly of Fairfield, died Wednesday, May 29. He was 88.

Ives was born in Bridgeport to Raymond H. Ives, Sr. and Mabel (Garrison) Ives. He was a graduate of the Randolph Macon Military Academy in Virginia and attended Boston University prior to being called to serve in the U.S. Army.  He was in the 242nd Infantry Regiment, Company E. Following his schooling and military service, he worked for his father’s company, Ives Electric. He liquidated the company in 1971 and formed Promotional Advertising Associates which he ran until his retirement in 1988.  He was a member of the American Legion Post # 74, the National Electrical Contractor Association (NECA), the Palm Aire Club in Sarasota and a former member of the Patterson Club.

Ives is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Sherman) Ives; son, Bruce Sherman Ives (Robin) of Redding; and two granddaughters.  He was predeceased by his parents; and son, David Ives.

Interment with military honors will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ives’s name to the American Cancer Society: P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

The Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center is in charge with the arrangements.
