Philip F. Metzger, 81, Of Fairfield, Korean War Veteran

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Philip F. Metzger of Fairfield died Wednesday, Sept. 4. He was 81.

Metzger was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Bridgeport, he was a lifelong area resident. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Fairfield University and was active with the Fairfield University Alumni. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by JP Stevens Carpet and Johnson and Johnson.

Metzger is survived by his wife, Zoya; sons, Bruce J. Metzger and Albert E. Metzger; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Christoffers; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara.

Calling hours are Monday, Sept. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield.
