FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Mary L. Galgota of Fairfield died Monday, Oct. 28. She was 68.
Galgota was born in Montgomery, Ala., daughter of Xavier and Louise Galgota. She received her bachelor's degree from Albertus Magnus College and her master’s degree in English from San Francisco State University. She was a writing instructor at San Francisco State University, Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University. She was a political and civil rights activist.
Galgota is survived by her sibling, Pat Berger of Clifton Park, N.Y.; niece, Elizabeth (Ben) Russell; and nephew, John Berger. She was predeceased by her parents.
Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield Center.
