Margaret Sjodin, 91, Longtime Fairfield Resident, WWII Veteran

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Margaret "Maggie" (Morrison) Sjodin of Fairfield died Monday, June 24. She was 91.

Sjodin and her family immigrated from Scotland when she was young and settled as a longtime resident in Fairfield. After graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School, she served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was discharged in 1946. She was a member of the Fairfield community and the First Congregational Church. She worked many years volunteering her time at the church store and served as an administrative assistant to several local businesses.

Sjodin is survived by her children, Deborah Pelletier; Nancy Shoemaker (Robert), Candace Classy (Michael) and son Kevin Sjodin (Pamela); 13 grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Burton Sjodin; and son-in-law, Dexter Pelletier.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at the First Congregational Church in Fairfield with a celebration of Sjodin’s life at the Gaelic American Club. The burial will be private at the discretion of the family.
