Zsampar was born May 14, 1926, to Joseph and Caroline Zsampar and raised in Fairfield. He was a craftsman and retired from the Connecticut Carpenters Union. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Zsampar is survived by his wife, Rose L. Rivera Zsampar; daughters Gloria L. Standish (David) of East Hampton and Carolyn R. Zsampar of West Haven; son, Eric L. Zsampar (Lisa) of Seymour; five grandchildren; brother, Steven Zsampar; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Caroline Zsampar, Ann Zsampar, Helen Brault, Mary McCarthy, and Elizabeth Marple; and brothers, Joseph Zsampar, Anthony Zsampar, and twin Julius Zsampar.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home, 662 Savin Ave. At 12:30 p.m., prayers, remembrances, and military honors will take place. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Zsampar’s name to the Disabled American Veterans.
