Hira was born and raised in Bridgeport, she was a Fairfield resident for most of her life. She had worked for the Bryant Electric Co. of Bridgeport for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Church, a member of the Church Ladies Guild and was a volunteer for all church functions. She was a member of the Fr. Coleman Knights of Columbus Columbietttes and a Past Grand Sultanna, of the El Poder Caravan of the International Order of the Alhambra.
Hira is survived by her son, Steve F. Hira Jr. (Patricia) of Shelton; daughters, Julia Frances Baudouin (Paul) of Trumbull and Ann Marie Belus (John) of Jamul, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Piretti and Theresa Feranec, both of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rose Marzulla, Grace Mendillo, Mary Horvath; and infant grandson, Thomas Hira.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. directly at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield with burial to follow in Lawncroft .Cemetery.
