John Zadrovitz, Jr., 93, Formerly Of Fairfield, WWII Silver Star Recipient

FORT MYERS, Fla. - John Zadrovitz Jr. of Fort Myers and formerly of Fairfield, Conn., died March 19. He was 93.

Zadrovitz was born in Bridgeport, son of John and Anna Tarvich Zadrovitz. He lived most of his life in Fairfield, recently moving to Florida to be closer to family.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, as part of the 95th Infantry, Company Engineers C320 Group, he saw combat in Germany and France. He received the Silver Star for his actions. He was also recognized for his contributions to the Battle of the Bulge and crossing the Rhine River into Germany.

He used the G.I. Bill to attend Bullard Haven Trade School for carpentry. He worked for Mutual Construction and later, for Moore Specialty Tools until his retirement.

Zadrovitz was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 143 and member of Holy Family Church.

Zadrovitz is survived by children, Luann Holmes, (Jeff), of Cape Coral, Fla., Diane Krout, (Vince), of Audubon, Pa., and John Zadrovitz III, (Sheri), of Ft. Myers; five grandchildren; brother, James Zadrovicz; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Violet; his parents; brothers, Francis, Stephen, Anthony, and Louis Zadrovicz.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Funeral services will take place Tuesday 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home, and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
