DeMartin was born May 21, 1933, in Pottsville, Pa. She graduated from Mary Immaculate Nursing School in Jamaica, Long Island and worked for many years as director of nurses at Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield.
DeMartin is survived by her husband, Dr. Jack DeMartin; daughters, Alicia DeMartin of Fairfield, and Joanna DeMartin, of New York City and Stonington; a grandchild; twin sisters, Patricia Porter of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport and Mary Leah Weiss of New York City; brother, Jack Weiss (Sally) of Wayland, Mass.; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert (Robin) DeMartin of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Thomas Church 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. A private interment will immediately follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
