James J. Alimena, 86, Of Fairfield, Retired Engineering Executive

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – James J. Alimena, 86, of Fairfield, died on Wednesday, April 1.

He was born Dec. 5, 1928, in West New York, N.J., to Bartholomeo “Ben” and Jeanne Provini Alimena.

Alimena was a vice president of engineering at United Technologies Norden Systems in Norwalk, earning a Mead Medal and holding several patents. He retired after 34 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Campanella Alimena; three daughters, Lisa (Matthew) Nyden of Monroe, Conn., Michelle (Andrew) Varrone of Trumbull, Conn., and Christine (Gary) Robinson of Merrimack, N.H.; one son, James B. (Clarissa) Alimena of Shelton, Conn.; two brothers, Barry (Patricia) Alimena and Robert (Alberta) Alimena, both of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield.

Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
