Baker was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa., the son of Charles Lorenzo Baker and Alice May Maxim Baker, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 35 years. He was a graduate of LaSalle College and served in the United States Navy at the end of World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner for 31 years of the Koenig Art Emporium in Darien. He was a member of American Legion Post 143 and the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield.
Baker is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Rochelle Baker, Alyson Baker Connole (Brendan) and Sarah Elizabeth Baker; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Doris Schmidt, Charlotte Goerlich and Alice Kay Baker.
Calling hours are Friday, March 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road, Fairfield. Military honors will be rendered following the service. Interment will be private.
