Fairfield Prep Swimmer Bradley Helt Dies at 16

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Bradley J. Helt, 16, of Westport, died unexpectedly April 9.

Westport resident Bradley Helt, a student at Fairfield Prep who died Monday, was an active swimmer with the Wilton Y Wahoos Swim Club.

He was born May 4, 1995, the son of Peter W. Helt and Cheryl M. Helt. A junior at Fairfield College Preparatory School, Helt was a member of the school’s state champion swim team. He was also a member of the Wilton Y Wahoo Swim Team.

Following Helt’s death, the Fairfield Prep student body gathered on Tuesday in the school’s quad for reflection and prayer. Students, staff and family celebrated a memorial Mass on Wednesday at Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Calling hours will be held at Spear Miller Funeral Home, in Fairfield, on April 22, at times to be announced. Funeral services will take place at a future date at Greens Farms Congregational Church.
