Born in Bridgeport, she had been a lifelong area resident and was a secretary for about 20 years at the University of Bridgeport.
A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church, was a member of the Ladies Guild, and did anything else she could to help out the church.
She was a member of a singing group The Pitch Pipers.
She is survived by her son, Louis Havanich, of Shelton; and her grandson, Brian Havanich, of Ridgecrest, Calif.
In addition to her husband, Louis, J. Havanich Sr., she was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Ann Havanich.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8 in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
Friends may greet the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to Holy Cross Church.
