SHARON, Mass. - Philip Barske, of Sharon, formerly of North Easton, died Aug. 23. He was 96.
Dr. Barske was born and raised in Fairfield and was a resident for over 50 years. He was a noted wildlife biologist, made conservation his life-long vocation and was recognized as a leading practitioner of wetlands creation, restoration and enhancement. After studying forestry and wildlife management at the University of Connecticut, he earned a master's degree in conservation and wildlife management at the University of Michigan. He worked for the Wildlife Management Institute for 33 years. After receiving a doctorate in applied ecology from Antioch College, he continued in the field as a private consultant. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Dr. Barske is survived by his daughter, Jane B. Kelly (Doug) of Sharon; two grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris.
