Dr. Betty Rogers Rubenstein, 92, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Dr. Betty Rogers Rubenstein of Fairfield died Sunday May 19. She was 92.

Dr. Rubenstein was born Dec. 29, 1920, in Brookline, Mass. She received her Bachelor's degree from Smith College in Northampton, Mass., June 9, 1942 and Ph.D. in Art History from Florida State University in Tallahassee in 1979.

Dr. Rubenstein is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard L. Rubenstein; children by her first marriage, Jean Reed of New Brunswick, Canada, John H. Alschuler (Dr. Diana Diamond) of New York City, and Liora Alschuler of East Thetford, Vt.; step-children, Jeremy N. Rubenstein (Linda Tang) of Bethesda, Md., and Hannah Rubenstein Feibel (Dr. Frederick) of West Simsbury; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Simpson; and stepson, Aaron Rubenstein of Nassau, Bahamas.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the Congregation. The family will sit Shiva Tuesday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 318 Collingwood Ave., Fairfield,  and Thursday, May 23 also from 6 to 9 p.m. at the home of John and Diana Alschuler at 50 Riverside Drive, N.Y., N.Y.

Donations made be made in Dr. Rubenstein’s honor to Smith College, Northampton, Mass., and to Congregation Beth El, 3500 Fairfield Woods Ave., Fairfield.
