Dr. Arthur C. Pinto, 62, Worked At Bridgeport Hospital, St. Vincent's

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Dr. Arthur C. Pinto, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Bridgeport Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 62.

Born on Oct. 2, 1953, in Mangalore, India, he was the youngest of five children born to Judith and Ralph Pinto. He attended medical school at St. Johns National Academy of Sciences in Bangalore, India, completed his training at Bridgeport Hospital, Vanderbilt University and Kings College in London. 

Pinto had worked at Bridgeport and St. Vincent's Hospitals for over 32 years. He was former chief of urology at Bridgeport Hospital. 

He devoted his life to caring for others and as a skilled surgeon and dedicated clinician, he was often his patients' greatest advocate. 

In his youth, Pinto was a ranked tennis player. He was an avid golfer, loved skiing and collected art and antiques.

He is survived by his brothers, Patrick Pinto (Veronica)and Dr. Edward Pinto (Dr. Marguerite); sisters Rita Gonsalves, Daphne Fickes (Dr. Michael) and Thelma Pinto; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of life will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius Church. A private interment ceremony will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, 267 Grant St., Bridgeport, CT 06610, to be used for the department of urology, or to a charity of one’s choice.
