Born Sept. 27, 1923, in New Bedford, Mass., Tolmie was the daughter of Alban and Sophie LeBlanc. She lived in New Brunswick, Canada and moved to the U.S. during World War II. She was employed by Chance Vought, where she worked on the F4U Corsair Aircraft.
A Fairfield resident since 1946, Tolmie worked for the Fairfield Store for 20 years. She was married to Robert J. Tolmie, who predeceased her.
She was an active participant at the Fairfield Senior Center and a longtime member of the Gaelic American Club, where she sang in the glee club.
Tolmie was a parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield for many years. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and traveling.
She is survived by three children, Robert J. (Barbara) Tolmie Jr., of Seymour, Conn., Catherine M. (Jeff Bond) Tolmie, of Hightstown, N.J., and Tricia (Edwin) Tolmie Westfield, of Stratford; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas N. Tolmie; a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
