Daria G’Winn Thompson, 53, Former Fairfield Resident

HADDAM, Conn. - Daria G'Winn Thompson of Haddam died Sept. 25. She was 53.

Thompson was born in Wilmington, Del., to Robert H. and Frances Thompson. She moved to Fairfield in 1965. After graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1977, she attended Slippery Rock University in Pa. Upon returning to Connecticut, she was employed in banking for many years and in horticultural therapy for disabled adults and teens-at-risk. In 1998, she began working at Open Solutions in Glastonbury as a contract specialist.

Thompson is survived by her partner, Sharon Bailey; father, Robert H. Thompson and his partner Jane McGovern of Naples, Fla.; mother, Frances Thompson of Fairfield; sisters, Donna Tierney (Michael) of Fairfield, Paula Ramos-Cowling (Gregory) Cowling of Evans, Ga., and Pamela Taylor (Robert) of Clarksville, Va.; brother, Bryan Thompson (Virginia) of Fairfield; sisters-in-law, Lucinda Moses (Joseph) Richards of Westminster West, Vt., and Rebecca Moses of Torrington; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert B. Thompson.

Calling hours are Monday, Sept. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home at 34 Main St., Centerbrook. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thompson's name may be made to the Jubilee House, 40 Clifford Street, Hartford CT 06114 or to the Middlesex Hospital Homecare Hospice, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
