Born and raised in Eastford, Reiss resided in Stamford and later Norwalk before moving to Fairfield in 1985. She was a former employee of American Chain and Cable Co. and was active in the PTAs of Riverfield Elementary School, Tomlinson Middle School and Fairfield High School. She became an advocate for the improvement of the entire Fairfield School System and was recognized in 2006 by the Fairfield PTA with the Alis B. McGrath Friends of Education Award. She was a dedicated participant of the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee.
She is survived by her husband, David; a son, Michael Reiss, of Fairfield; her nieces, Robin Reiss, Margaret Andrews, Shoshana and Shira Hereld; and her nephews, Edward Reiss, James Reiss, Jay Reiss, Jack and Erik Dietz.
Reiss was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Annabelle Ginto Kraus; her father-in-law, Robert Reiss; her mother-in-law, Leanore Reiss; and her sisters-in-law, Christina Hahn and Spring Burrington-Reiss.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4-8 p.m. at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will take place Friday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with interment to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
