Community Mourns Death Of Retired Firefighter 'Opie' Skurat, 38

The Fairfield County community is mourning the death of retired firefighter Christopher “Opie” Skurat, who died after a long and courageous battle against Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Diagnosed in the summer of 2017, Opie died early Christmas morning at the age of 38, according to Echo Hose Hook and Ladder Co. officers. He is survived by his wife, Carla, his two sons, Jake and Ryan, his mother, Donna, and his sisters, Gretchen and Karen.
