FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Catherine E. Griek of Fairfield died Wednesday, May 1. She was 98.
Griek was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Jersey City, N.J., daughter of Giuseppe and Giovannina Mazzaccaro, and has been a resident of Fairfield for the past 14 years. Prior to moving to Fairfield she resided in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. She was a former member of the Hasbrouck Heights Woman’s Club, the Corpus Christi Women’s Bible Reading Group and in her earlier years was a den mother with the cub scouts.
Griek is survived by sons, Paul M. Griek (Linda) of Maywood, N.J., and Dominic J. Griek of Fairfield; sisters, Louise Greene of Jersey City, N.J., Viola D’Andrea of NYC.; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Paul Griek; brothers, Frank and Dominic Mazzacaro; and sisters, Stella Corrente, Rose Marchiano and Sadie D’Amato.
A private family service was held at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.
