Hammar was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Bridgeport, to John and Eleanor Hammar. He graduated from the Bullard Haven Technical school in 1954. He and his wife, Nancy relocated to Newtown, in 1965. He worked in the electronics and communications field, for TPC associates in Fairfield, for many years prior to partnering with co-workers to start ACA communications of Monroe.
Hammar is survived by his children, Dale S. Ventres (Michael) and John A Hammar (Kristen) of Newtown. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Nancy B Hammar of Norwalk.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
