What's Happening in Fairfield This Weekend

 

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Church fairs, walks in the woods and concerts highlight Fairfield’s events this weekend. Here’s a collection of some of the events happening around town over the next few days.

Friday, June 1

Electric Car Community Days: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Connecticut Clean Cities and the state’s energy companies will demonstrate the latest in electric car technology and other energy-saving ideas. The free event also takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sherman Green parking lot at Reef Road and Post Road.

Olympiad Greek Festival: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church holds its annual fair featuring Greek food and music, shopping, games and rides. The fair continues Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free. 4070 Park Ave., Bridgeport.

Saturday, June 2

Summer Fun Fest: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church holds its annual fair. The day will feature rides and games, a grill tent, a silent auction and shopping tents, and special shows for kids. There is no charge for admission. 1089 Fairfield Woods Road.

National Trails Day Hike: 10 to 11 a.m. The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield honors National Trails Day with a 1.5-mile hike through the Larsen Sanctuary. There is no charge, but the center recommends registering in advance by calling 203-259-6305, Ext.109. Center is at 2325 Burr St.

Strawberry Festival: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield hosts its annual celebration of the strawberry harvest. Along with fresh strawberries and strawberry shortcake, there will be games and crafts. Admission is free. 2475 Easton Turnpike.

Sunday, June 3

Trinity in Motion Recital: 4 p.m.: Soprano Virginia Barney will perform classical opera selections at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Admission is a free-will donation to the church’s ongoing efforts with other local churches to help Holy Trinity School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. 661 Old Post Road.

Ogden House Tours: 1 to 4 p.m. The Fairfield Museum and History Center offers tours of the historic Ogden House. Museum docents will teach tour groups about life in Fairfield’s colonial era. Admission is $3 per person or free for museum members. 1520 Bronson Road.

New Orleans Suspects Concert: 7:30 p.m. The blues-rock band performs at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne. Tickets are $29 at the door or $25 in advance through the theater website. 70 Sanford St.
