Three-Car Crash Blocks Lanes Of I-95 Near Fairfield Rest Area

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Only one lane of northbound I-95 was open after a multi-car crash near the Fairfield rest area on Saturday afternoon, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

update: FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The crash has been cleared and traffic was clearing on I-95, DOT says.

The accident is near Exit 22, with three vehicles involved, DOT said. The traffic backups go back 3 miles to Exit 18 and beyond near the Westport-Norwalk border, DOT said. 

The crash was reported at 12:45 p.m., and it may take a couple of hours or more to clear, DOT said. 

Police, firefighters and ambulances responded to the scene.
