Fairfield police and Sacred Heart University security were looking into a pair of laptop thefts that occurred Tuesday afternoon in the school's library. At about 2 p.m., a female SHU student reported her IBM laptop was stolen from a cubicle while she was studying. The woman said she stepped outside to make a phone call and when she returned less than 10 minutes later the computer was missing.
Later that same afternoon, just before 4 p.m., a male student studying in the same library reported a similar incident. As in the other theft, he left his MacBook Pro unattended for 20 minutes to make a call, and it was gone when he returned.
Sacred Heart security has no video surveillance from the library Tuesday afternoon because of construction. Fairfield police were investigating the thefts.
