Fairfield police are investigating another incident in a string of large shoplifting cases from Post Road stores. Sometime between 11 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. on Sept. 3, a thief stole 20 bras from a drawer at Victoria's Secret. The manager told police that she saw no suspicious people in the store during that time. The value of the merchandise was $1,000.
Sgt. Suzanne Lussier said Tuesday that both Victoria's Secret and the nearby Banana Republic have seen similar cases in the past week, where thousands of dollars of merchandise has gone missing. She added that the stores' outlets at Trumbull Shopping Park have had the same problem, at least once on the same day.
Police have no suspects for Friday's incident, but they do have some leads for the previous crimes. They are still investigating the incidents.

? There's no crime for lying to your wife, but as Bridgeport's Henry Vaughn learned this weekend, police don't appreciate it when they're involved in the charade. Vaughn, 33, was charged with interfering with police after an incident Saturday.
Around 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Vaughn showed up at the Mona Terrace home of his estranged wife, with whom he had not lived for a few months. He told his wife, and later Fairfield Police, that he had witnessed an assault and stabbing in Mount Vernon, N.Y., stemming from a dispute between a friend and her ex-boyfriend. Fairfield and Mount Vernon police investigated the claim for nearly an hour before Vaughn admitted that he invented the story as an excuse to get into his wife's house.
"[Vaughn] wasted the valuable time and resources of two police agencies with his fabricated story," said Sgt. Suzanne Lussier of the Fairfield Police. He was released on a promise to appear in court.
