Teens Attacked on Fairfield Street

Police were searching for an unknown man who attacked a group of Fairfield teens Wednesday night along Birch Street. None of the 14-year-olds were injured, but the suspect could face assault charges for the sudden attack.

The two victims told police they were walking along the side of the road at about 8 p.m. with a group of five friends. The suspect pulled up in a blue Chevrolet Suburban, got out of the car and approached the boys. The man began yelling at the boys for not walking on the sidewalk. The teens said the snow had not yet been cleared. The man then grabbed one of the boys by the collar and shoved another into a snow bank on the side of the road. The other five boys ran home and told their parents to call the police.

Fairfield police were looking for the suspect, whom they believe is a Fairfield resident. The boys described him as a white male, about 45 years old and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a red sweatshirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information should call the Fairfield police.

Also from the police blotter:

• A thief in Fairfield swiped a rather curious Christmas gift over the holiday weekend—an electric generator. The foreman at the Whole Foods construction site on Grasmere Avenue told Fairfield police Wednesday that someone entered a trailer on the lot between 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and 10 a.m. Dec. 25. The thief made off with one of the store's backup generators, valued at $1,000.

According to investigators, the thief gained entry by cutting the lock on the trailer door. Because there were no footprints in the snow, police believe the theft occurred before Sunday's snowfall. They were investigating.
