FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Stratford man was charged Tuesday with burglaries at two Fairfield homes last fall. Douglas Fast, 47, was previously arrested as a suspect in four other burglaries in town dating back to December.
The burglaries related to Tuesdays charges occurred on Ermine Street in October and on Smedley Road in November. In the Ermine Street case, the suspect entered the home while the residents were on vacation, taking a $400 flat-screen television and about $250 worth of jewelry, police say.
On Smedley Road, the suspect entered the home by pushing in an air-conditioning unit hanging from a window, according to police reports. An estimated $400 in jewelry was reported missing from the home by the homeowner.
Fairfield investigators linked Fast to both burglaries. He had previously been charged by police in Seymour, Orange, Monroe, Bridgeport, Trumbull and Stratford for similar incidents in those towns. He had also been charged for burglaries on Dorking Drive, Barry Scott Drive, Roseville Terrace and Farist Road in Fairfield. He is scheduled to enter a plea in those cases in May.
Fast was arrested at Bridgeport Superior Court and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and two counts of larceny Tuesday. He was held on a combined $10,000 bond, and was arraigned Tuesday.
