Storm Shuts Down Fairfield

UPDATED 2:20 p.m.: Monday’s Blizzard Warning is finished, but many in Fairfield are not taking any chances. The snow already shut down service on Metro-North’s New Haven line, but trains are nowruning on a limited schedule. Traffic cameras also show more drivers out on the road than this morning, but traffic is still light on Interstate-95.

The storm’s high winds and 12 inches of snowfall have left 1,160 in Fairfield without power this morning, but by 2 p.m. United Illuminating reported most outages had been repaired. Many town services have decided to close as a result. Here’s a rundown of the cancellations announced so far:

? Fairfield’s town offices announced a delayed opening this morning, but are now open.

? Fairfield Public Library, the Fairfield Museum and History Center, and the Pequot Library have all announced that they would be closed due to the storm.

? Teddy Bear Corner Daycare has canceled classes at both of its locations.

? Sacred Heart University cancelled its inter-session classes Monday.

? Nutmeg Bowl on Villa Avenue has canceled its morning Senior Leagues.
