Troopers were dispatched to a stretch of I-84 near exit 49 on Sunday morning in Hartford, where there was a report of a one-car crash that left a motorist with minor injuries, according to state police.
While at the scene investigating the crash, police said that a 2004 Lexus, being driven by Hartford resident Jennifer Rosario, 33, struck the police cruiser from behind, while the trooper was in the vehicle, leaving him with a minor injury that sent him to the hospital for evaluation.
Rosario was not injured in the crash. According to police, while interviewing Rosario, troopers determined that she was potentially under the influence of alcohol. Rosario failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and she was subsequently arrested.
After being taken into custody, Rosario was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, interfering with an officer and failure to reduce speed or move over for an emergency vehicle.
Rosario is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond and she is due in Hartford Superior Court on Monday afternoon to answer the charges.
