Robberies Strike Two Fairfield Businesses

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two unrelated robberies were reported within a two-hour period in Fairfield Sunday afternoon.

A suspect held up a Tunxis Hill Road bakery at gunpoint in one case, shortly after a different man bit a pharmacy employee in a failed shoplifting attempt.

The armed robbery occurred at about 6 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Adam’s Bakery on Tunxis Hill Road. An employee told police she was about to close up for the night when a man entered the bakery. The suspect showed her a gun and demanded she empty out the register.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20s, about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall with a slim build. He had short, blonde hair, blue eyes, was unshaven and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans. A witness also told police he left in a silver or gray Infiniti or Nissan.

The other robbery took place at Walgreens pharmacy on Villa Avenue about two hours earlier. The store’s manager told police he saw a man shoplift and attempt to leave the store. When the man refused to give back the stolen items, the manager reportedly wrapped his arms around him. The suspect then bit the manager on his wrist. The suspect continued to fight and yelled that he had AIDS to convince the manager to let him go.

The manager described the suspect as a white male, about 6-feet tall, in his 40s, with shoulder-length brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing a tan jacket and jeans. After the incident he got into a gray 1993 Mercury Tracer with another male passenger and fled.
