Production Director Resigns From Fairfield-Based Medical Marijuana Firm

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The director of production for Fairfield-based Advanced Grow Labs, one of four companies chosen for licenses to legally produce medical marijuana in Connecticut, has resigned, according to the Hartford Courant.

John J. "Jay" Czarkowski resigned after disclosures that he shut down a marijuana dispensary and production facility in Colorado in 2012 after losing his license, the Courant reported.

Advanced Grow Labs is owned by Westport resident David Lipton. Its growing facility will be located in a warehouse in West Haven.

Consumer Protection Commissioner William Rubenstein said Czarkowski's problems in Boulder were "not disclosed to us" in Advanced Grow Labs' license application last year, the Courant reported. Advanced Grow Labs was said to be cooperating with the state investigation.
