Fairfield Police are searching for a driver who cut off a bus Friday, causing a passenger to fall and suffer a serious injury. At about 12:45 p.m., a small reddish-brown Volkswagen with a brown convertible top took a right turn from the left lane of the Post Road onto Reef Road. It cut in front of a Milford Transit bus slowing down for the bus stop a few yards ahead.
When the bus driver stopped short, the momentum threw a standing passenger forward, causing him to hit his head. The unidentified Greenwich man was rushed to St. Vincents Hospital for treatment, and is currently in critical condition.
Witnesses say the Volkswagen continued south on Reef Road. Some say it turned into the parking garage for Borders and Banana Republic. Anyone who can identify the driver should call the Fairfield Police Accident Investigation Unit at (203) 254-4808.
